Capacity Building

For Community-Based Volunteers of Educational Activity Centres (EACs)

Community-based volunteers play an essential role in the success of Educational Activity Centres (EACs) by helping to deliver learning activities, provide guidance, and engage with communities to address local educational challenges. However, to maximize their effectiveness, it is crucial to provide volunteers with the necessary tools, skills, and resources that can empower them to better support the education system, foster local involvement, and address the specific challenges of the community. Capacity building focuses on strengthening volunteers’ capabilities to improve their impact and sustainability in their roles.

Volunteers are trained to establish feedback loops with the community to assess the impact of their educational activities. These involve surveys, interviews, or community meetings to gather input from parents, students, and other stakeholders.

Teaching methodology for EAC Tuition Teachers

Debora Foundation India recognized the importance of improving the teaching skills of volunteer educators in our Educational Activity Centres. To address this, a three-day training program was organized to enhance their instructional abilities.

The orientation program was conducted by local volunteer resource persons, including Prof. Dr. Aval Murthy, Prof. Mahabaleshwar, and his colleagues.

The training program covered a variety of teaching methods aimed at enhancing the skills of volunteer teachers. These included:
– Engaging children through games
– Using storytelling to improve concentration
– Encouraging children to tell stories
– Providing more opportunities for active participation, ensuring every child is involved
– Emphasizing the importance of using libraries
– Demonstrating concepts through small experiments
– Teaching English through simple methods
– Enhancing reading skills
