EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY CENTERS

The Foundation has established Educational Activity Centres (EACs) in local villages to support the holistic development of school-going children aged six to thirteen. These centres offer two hours of enriching engagement each evening after school hours, providing educational resources, sports materials, and tools for active learning.

The program aims to enhance academic performance, health, and nutrition, while engaging children in non-academic activities that help discover their talents. EACs focus on developing children's mental, physical, social, and spiritual well-being by nurturing self-confidence, social skills, and emotional resilience.

The initiative encourages community involvement, with families and local panchayats supporting the children's learning journey. EAC staff receive regular training to ensure the delivery of academic and non-academic activities that build creativity, skills, and resilience, empowering children to face life's challenges.

Developing Leadership Skills

Every year, children eagerly anticipate the summer camps held during their annual school break. These camps provide a valuable opportunity for children from different villages to connect, build friendships, and foster a sense of community. In May, we hosted four Leadership Summer Camps in partnership with Amazing Kids Trust, DJ Dance Studio, and ANS Dance Studio. Each camp, lasting six days, focused on building self-confidence, independence, social skills, arts and crafts, singing and dancing, yoga and physical fitness, helping children develop as future community leaders.

Healthcare and Nutritional Support

For children to concentrate on their studies, it is vital that they maintain both physical and mental well-being. However, in rural areas, access to healthcare is often limited and costly. To bridge this gap, Debora Foundation India collaborated with Bangalore Baptist Hospital to organize healthcare camps. The hospital’s mobile health unit, which includes doctors, nurses, and health workers, traveled to villages to perform comprehensive health assessments, offer health counseling, and raise awareness. This year, nearly 500 children from 18 villages received medical check-ups, with those needing immediate care provided with medication. Children who required further treatment were referred to Baptist Hospital for specialized services.

In addition, daily nutritional supplements are provided to children to improve their nutrition and ensure consistent attendance at Educational Activity Centres. These supplements include vital nutrients such as protein and iron, along with local staples like groundnuts and green grams. This combined focus on healthcare and nutrition plays a crucial role in helping children reach their full potential..
